CONGRES AWARDS

Congress Awards

National associations for cancer research from Serbia, Croatia, and Türkiye (SDIR, HDIR, and MOKAD) successfully organized the 1st Regional Congress (SHM1RC) under the auspices of the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) in conjunction with the SDIR-7 biannual meeting. The event took place in Belgrade, Serbia, from October 8–10, 2025,—a symbolic meeting point at the crossroads of East and West, close to the place where the Sava and Danube rivers merge. This scientific gathering brought together cancer researchers from across Eastern Europe and beyond, creating an inspiring and collaborative atmosphere. Participants engaged in vibrant scientific discussions, shared innovative ideas, and established the foundation for stronger regional cooperation among researchers from underrepresented parts of Europe. The congress was attended by around 300 participants, including speakers, clinicians, patient advocates and representatives of industry. The event brought together cancer researchers and stakeholders from 17 European countries and the USA.

Countries of SHM1RC congress participants are highlighted in red (Serbia, Croatia, Türkiye, France, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Hungary, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Greece, Denmark, Estonia, Russia, Spain, Belgium, Montenegro, USA)

Awards for the Best among the Best

As part of the congress program, researchers were recognized for exceptional achievements and for delivering high-quality abstract presentations during the closing Award Ceremony. Awards were available across four categories, and seven participants were honored with awards.
